Call your state insurance commissioner’s office and see if they have a “children’s insurance plan/pool” for kids (in Georgia, for example, there’s “Peachcare for Kids,” which offers really good coverage at a really low price). While talking w/ the Commissioner’s office, also explain your specific situation. 2. If your state doesn’t have a kids’ plan or if you don’t “qualify” for it, then shop for coverage on your kid’s first (and probably yourself, too – hey, it doesn’t hurt to check around).
