For the most part, no. I had a situation once where they denied my claim for a pelvic exam because someone there had changed my sex in their system from female to male. It was a big headache to clear up, because everyone I got on the line there was saying it was somehow my fault or my office manager's fault, because they wouldn't have changed my sex in their system unless we'd sent in a special request form asking them to do so, and I ended up having to do conference calls between the doctor's office and people from BC/BS, because no one would call anyone else back, and blah blah blah. It sucked. It's awful. I was used to having a plan that paid for everything with a low copay, this one does not covers doctors visits, has a $500 procedure deductible, and a $100 ER co-pay. I ended up having my dad buy me a supplementary insurance through my school that covers doctors visits/stuff they do in office for only a $10 copay, and it offers me prescription coverage that's like $1 cheaper than my dads coverage, lol. Meh, it's okay. Not fantastic but adequate, I guess. My only bad experiences were with the prescription coverage (which changed recently, from NMHC to Informed Rx). NMHC was extremely random in what it would cover and how much. One of my regular prescriptions had a price that would jump around in coverage percentage every time I filled it - not small changes, but 80% vs 0%, wtf. Another one was given a mere discount that made it more expensive than paying full price for the generic. They cover a medication that is sometimes difficult to get insurance companies to cover, at 80%, no questions asked, but hassled me about an antibiotic and refused any coverage at all for it. I think the person handling my account was a monkey with a Magic 8 Ball.
